I had the same experience early on, screwing up my feed this way, and I'm still trying to fix it - mainly by seeking out good poetry by starving artists to replace the clickbait millionaires...

One thing I have learned to focus on in other settings online, which I have been slow to live by on Medium, is engaging in conversation and building relationships. Others have been carrying that message to me here, thank goodness, and I am slowly changing my ways.

For my own sanity, I write and post everyday, and that's the foundation; the gravy comes through connecting with other writers, reading their work, commenting when moved, and not expecting reciprocation.

As my favorite piano teacher still tells me when I see him on the street, free advice is worth what you paid for it (all the more so when it is unsolicited)... But truly, advice is not my intention - I'm just thinking out loud here, inspired by your post. Thank you!
