that red in the background
is the exposed red clay
of new construction
some changes are
easier to stomach than
others

adaptation to change
requires flexibility
willingness
and fortitude
choosing to deny
change as it appears
is an invitation to fate
a signal that your choice
is to gamble against the tide

what is the cause of such resistance?
what makes a person cling with such
desperation
to illusion as though it were real?
and who the hell am I
to make such assumptions
about the choices of another?
what makes my reading of “reality”
more accurate than that of someone else?
