just a little later
the horizon glows
the earth cools
dusk falls

every night
a little shorter
and soon enough
from winter’s grey cage
fresh colors emerge
sun climbs higher
summer coming
long hot days
heat rises

until then
biding time
watching birds
counting crocuses
staying warm
and inside
waiting
