Biding the Times

a faded sign in fading light
signifying more by way of implication
than the more explicit sign on the placard below
open for business? what business might that be? hard to say…
the tinted windows of the corner entrance offer little explanation
but no doubt any business conducted therein is at least
a meagre attempt to keep afloat in challenging times
times which may already have been challenging
before everything went topsy turvy in 2020
leaving me guessing on the corner
about what goes on inside
