Anachronistic Vision

blue eyes on white stalks
standing out against a backdrop
of dark mountain and moody cloud bank
seeming to rise up out of green organic shapes
adjacent to hard lines and matching blues
in their architectural companions

do these eyes still shine light
on the play of the children below
dribbling and shooting balls at hoops
or have the rectangular fixtures to the roofline
taken their place in lighting the court

I like to think these eyes still see
and shine their warm light of vision
on the children as they play below
a lofty expression of the past
still present and helpful
